Setting

Setting: Glendale Galleria

For my setting I visited the Glendale Galleria in Los Angeles.
Here are my sensory details:

I hear the car slowly come to a halt.
I hear the automatic doors squeak open as my family stomps in.
I hear the loud booming of voices talking as I walk in.
I hear the soft foot steps of people walking by on the rough rug.
I hear the crackling of store bags as they are being moved step by step.

I smell the baking of cheese pizza in the oven.
I smell the sweet orange chicken staying warm under the hot heat lamp.
I smell the intriguing flower perfume of a skinny lady passing by.
I smell crispy fries cooking in the hot corn oil at BK.
I smell the retched odder of a dirty bum asking for money.

I feel the cool wind of the AC hitting my face.
I feel the rug creating friction on my old shoes as I walk.
I touched the cold clear windows covering an expensive product.
I touched the soft cotton-like new T-shirt that by brother got.
I feel my tummy rumble as I got hungry for burgers.

I see the rough brown tile that the galleria is made of.
I see a bunch of people walking in and out of stores buying merchandise.
I see my tall brother walking at a fast paste to the skate shop.
I see my sister looking at a lot of bright color shoes.
I see my parents hugging in back of us as we see all the big stores.

I taste the cold refreshing cola as I drink it.
I taste the bitter onions as I bite into my warm burger.
I taste the hot salty golden fries as I eat them.
I taste the fresh crunchy red tomatoes slices.
I taste the foul polluted gray air as a buss passes by.

Song: Smells like teen spirit
By: Nirvana

Smells Like Teen Spirit lyrics

Load up on guns,
Bring your friends
It's fun to lose and to pretend
She's overboard self assured
Oh no I know, a dirty word.

Hello, hello, hello, how low?
Hello, hello, hello, how low?
Hello, hello, hello, how low?
Hello, hello, hello.

With the lights out, it's less dangerous
Here we are now, entertain us
i feel stupid and contagious
Here we are now, entertain us
A mullato!
An Albino!
A mosquito!
My Libido!
Yay!(x3)

I'm worse at what I do best
And for this gift I feel blessed
Our little group has always been
And always will until the end

Hello, hello, hello, how low?
Hello, hello, hello, how low?
Hello, hello, hello, how low?
Hello, hello, hello.

With the lights out, it's less dangerous
Here we are now, entertain us
Acting stupid and contagious
Here we are now, entertain us
A mullato!
An Albino!
A mosquito!
My Libido!
Yay!(x3)

(Solo)

And I forget just what it take
and yet I guess it makes me smile
I found it hard, it's hard to find
Oh well, whatever, nevermind

Hello, hello, hello, how low?
Hello, hello, hello, how low?
Hello, hello, hello, how low?
Hello, hello, hello.

With the lights out, it's less dangerous
Here we are now, entertain us
Acting stupid and contagious
Here we are now, entertain us
A mullato!
An albino!
A mosquito!
My libido!

A denial!(x9)

Response:
This song is one of my favorite and that's why I chose it for the "Response to Lyrics" assignment. I don't now how this song how this song directly relates to me (other than I'm a teenager...) but I like this song. What I enjoy about is the rhythm and the lyrics. But what truly makes me like this song is how good the artist captures teen spirit. If you think it doesn't, I don't see how you u would, then you don't know how most teenager are LOL. Come on we're loud, we love being entertain, and we all have problems (or drama what ever you want to call it) that we would love to get away from or confront. What I think that this song reveals about Nrivana is that they know what being a teenager is like and that they are and american rock band. "Smells like teen spirit" entered Nirvana entered into the mainstream.
